BRIEF PROFILE OF HONOURABLE SIMON OSEI-MENSAH
Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah is a Ghanaian politician and a native of Jachie in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti Region. He holds a Masters Degree in Economics (Banking and Finance). Some of the education institutions he attended include KNUST – Kumasi, University for National and World Economics – Sofia – Bulgaria, Tietgen Business College –Odense – Denmark, John Hopkins University – USA and Galilee International Management Institute – Israel. Before joining politics, he worked with Consortium for Innovations in Human Settlement Development,
Agricultural Development Bank as Branch Manager and Operations Manager at Kuapa Kokoo Credit Union.
Hon. Osei-Mensah started his political career as a Parliamentarian for Bosomtwe Constituency in January 2005. He was a member of the 4th 5th and 6th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. He was also a member of the ECOWAS Parliament from 2008 to 2017. He was also the Fourth Deputy Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament.
Hon. Osei-Mensah has served on various Boards and Committees at both national and international levels. He was the Board Chairman for Ghana Veneer Processing Company Ltd., Board Chairman for Bosomtwe Rural Bank Ltd and a Board Member for Agricultural Development Bank Ltd. He also served as Chairman for the Committee on Political Affairs, Peace and Security of ECOWAS Parliament as well as a Member for Bureau of ECOWAS Parliament; Member on Infrastructure and Industrial Development Committee of ECOWAS Parliament and a Member on UN Millennium Campaign on SDGs Steering Committee on Re-organisation of Network of African Parliamentarians on SDGs. Hon. Osei-Mensah was also a Member on Public Accounts Committee and Health Committee of Ghana Parliament.
Currently, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah is the Ashanti Regional Minister. He was appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in February 2017 and was re-appointed for the same position in January 2021. This has made him the longest serving Ashanti Regional Minister since 1920.
Hon Osei-Mensah is the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Security Council since 2017 to date. His hard work and contribution to national development has won him several Awards including African Personality of Integrity Merit Award 2015, three times Best Regional Minister for 2017, 2018 and 2020 by FAKS Investigative Services. Best Regional Minister 2019 Presidential Globe African Heroes Honour by Pan African Heroes Foundation.
Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah is a Christian and married with five children.
